Yoga in the Pavilion: You could come twice a week!

June 10, 2015

Yes, the astilbes and hydrangeas are a great reason to come take a walk here.  But wait, there’s more!  The Woodlands Pavilion is a perfect setting for yoga.  Two instructors are returning: Betsy on weekend mornings and Aditi on weekday evenings. We hope one of these sessions will suit your schedule.

Join Aditi Bhardwaj in the Pavilion

THURSDAYS FROM 5:30 – 6:30 PM beginning June 4th

Stretches and deep breathing will be the focus of yoga sessions on Thursdays. It will include gentle and active routines that linger on postures or work through a flow sequence, tailored to suit the audience and the mood of the day.

Join Betsy Root in the Pavilion

SATURDAYS FROM 9:30 – 10:30 AM beginning June 6th

In meditative flow, we move through breath work, warm up movements, and postures with an emphasis on cultivating strength, flexibility, and non-judgmental self-awareness. Prior yoga experience is beneficial, though we offer modifications to make the class accessible.

See Fairies in the Garden Oct. 18th 2 – 5 pm

2014

Clients of Skyland Trail’s therapeutic horticultural program will once again bring their Fairies in the Garden installation to Woodlands, Saturday, Oct. 18th 2014, from 2 – 5 pm. Visitors to this annual event will discover tiny fairy dwellings built from bark, twigs, branches, seed heads, leaves and other natural materials, tucked in sheltered nooks along the garden’s paths.  We’ll give you a few hints to find them.  Fairy costumes encouraged!

We expect to welcome many fairy-loving friends on the 18th, so we encourage you to walk, bike or carpool.  There are three offsite parking options.  Download a map here.  We’ll provide a shuttle to and from Westchester School, 758 Scott.

Coming Soon to Woodlands: Wilderness Act Performance Series

edie-mortonWoodlands Garden will mark the 50th anniversary of the Wilderness Act on Sunday, September 21st from 2-5 pm, hosting a musical and artistic celebration of this landmark legislation.  Woodlands is one of only five Atlanta venues hosting the Wilderness Act Performance Series. The preservation of special areas to be left unchanged by human interference “recognizes a fundamental part of our society’s search for natural beauty, personal growth, national pride, and spiritual truth.” It is an honor for Woodlands Garden to help commemorate this visionary act that forever safeguards America’s natural wonders.
